Tonight we had a house warming for Jill who has moved into her new digs.

Great place, great food, great friends. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Dreaming of a real man

wedding-date-the-2005-01

Marie and I love this guy.  We watched “The Wedding Date” four times last summer at Beth’s condo at Perdido,  but can never remember the actor’s name.  It’s something like Dumas Milner – no, that was a Chevrolet dealer in Jackson in the 50s, but  we love him anyway, especially that little scar above his lip.

Jeri just sent me this note and it reminded me of “The Wedding Date” and how a Real Man behaves and how wonderful a good relationship can be.

magazines

This afternoon I heard a knock on the door –  tap tap tatap, like Yvonne would do.

beach

For the 100th time, I’m rereading David Yount’s wonderful book entitled “Spiritual Simplicity.”  It is always beside my bed so I can pick it up when I’m feeling frustrated, or even just blah.

It doesn’t take but a few pages to get me back on track.  Yesterday – being Labor Day and all – I just lounged around the didn’t do much except bemoan the sad state of my home.  I renovated it 13 years ago and it’s beginning to look tired and overstuffed. (Like me – that fried Snicker Bar at Prairie Arts is still haunting me.)

MSU-Memphis and Prairie arts 10 004

Marie, Norma and Judy and I attended the annual Prairie Arts Festival on Saturday in West Point.  What a wonderful way to remember our childhoods.

We once romped around this place each Saturday and never dreamed we would ever grow old. Not much as changed except we don’t wear braces (oops I do) and we don’t care about boys (oops Marie does).
