I wake up every day of my life at 4 a.m. I ditched my alarm clock when I retired, but there must be one lurking in my head because my eyes pop open at exactly the same moment day after day.

To think I almost passed up the Egg Bowl yesterday.  I was exhausted from cooking and cleaning for Thanksgiving, and felt like kicking off my shoes and watching the game from my big ole recliner with Rebel and Lucky Dawg at my side. (more…)

Sorry about the photo quality but I was doing some “drive-by shooting” today with my trusty Olympus.

My friend Constance Walker, who lives in my most favorite house in Starkville, put out Thanksgiving decorations which consisted of two stuffed scarecrows and some pumpkins.

Knowing what devoted Mississippi State fans Constance and Carroll are, I did a double take when I drove by. (more…)

My virgin voyage into Christmas shopping land for 2009 was a dud. I rushed out to Wal-Mart this morning against my better judgment, but the lure of a $18 Sunbeam microwave was too much for me.

The table is set, the cornbread dressing is bubbling in the oven and hopes are high that everything runs smoothly this Thanksgiving… and that I don’t have to call the fire department, or drop a casserole on the floor, or forget to put out something I tucked into the back of the refrigerator.
