I just finished reading Sanjay Gupta’s book “Chasing Life” and learned some interesting tidbits.
According to a survey performed by the Pew Research Center, Republicans ere happier than Democrats but both are happier than independents.
Whites and Hispanics are happier than blacks. People who live in the Sunbelt are happier than those living in the rest of the country.
And those of us who are “always” rushed report being less happy that others who only are “sometimes” or “almost never” rushed.
Surprisingly, we tend to get happier as we get older. Young men (aged 18 to 29) are the least happy group, while men 65 and older are the happiest.
The Pew study found parents are no happier than people with no children. And once we’ve met our basic needs of food and shelter, money does not buy much happiness.
Honing an upbeat positive attitude, may be the most important thing we can do for our lives and longevity.
