Curtain time for the “Four Shin Splints”

That’s the nickname I’ve given our little group of four runners – all on the dark side of 50.

We are preparing for the Music City Half Marathon in April.  YES WE”RE STILL ON GO!  People keep asking me if we’ve given up our intentions. I guess I have a bad track record – no pun intended.

2nd runnerWe’re still training and officially registered this week by plunking down our $106 fee. It’s expensive to punish yourself.

We’re taking a test run tomorrow in the St. Pat 5K Race in Columbus. (We only had to plunk down $15.)  My goal is to finish and not swallow a bug.  Who would have thought I would be happy to endure chafed thighs – known in the runner’s world as “chub rub.” It’s proof I’m in training even if I do have to walk like a cowboy!

The point is, a 5K race was as far from the realm of possibilities two month ago, as the royal throne of England.  And here I am packing my gear for tomorrow.  A step in the right direction – don’t you think?

  1. Way to go, girl! Have a good time and give yourselves a big pat on the back for sticking to your goal.
