Do you know what this is?

I was out front this a.m. doing a rain dance. Yesterday I planted some pretties and the weather man promised me lots of rain. It’s all around us, but nary a drop as of 10 a.m.

But as I jigged around I discovered the most beautiful plant growing out of the concrete curb. At first I thought it was a hydranga because the bloom looks just like the blooms on my mop-heads. But the foliage didn’t look like anything I’ve seen. It is perfectly beautiful and I refuse to call it a weed. There’s a prize for anyone who can tell me what this is.

Milkweed huh? So can you eat it? Is it a true weed or can it be cultivated? It is truly beautiful and still blooming on the curb.
