Early Light: Maybe if Nero had been served a hot dog…

Today is Friday, July 18, 2008. This is the 200th day of the year. There are 166 days remaining to accomplish our lofty goals. I don’t know about you, but I’m way behind.

On this day in the year 64 AD, Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Literally.

March ahead about 1,872 years to 1936 and we have the first Wienermobile being rolled out of a factory in Chicago. It was produced to promote the Oscar Mayer wiener – better known as a Hot Dog! To this day the hot dog mobile tours the U. S., delighting children everywhere.

Now, I’m not sure how I relate Nero to the hot dog folks, but there must be some cosmic connection. Anyone who remembers Bryan Foods and my hometown will understand. But back to the hot dog on wheels…It visited my community about three years ago and it drew a bigger crowd than the attorney general. Just who is the attorney general anyway? A prize to anyone who can deliver the correct answer. (Seriously. I have no idea.)
