Opening date for college football is only three weeks away.  How’s a girl to prepare?

Shop for the coolest sports wear – in your school colors.  For me that means I’ll be wearing lots of maroon, white, red and blue.  Not a good combination, but you do what you have to do.

Next, you pull out your best tailgate recipes.  Here’s one I’m trying for the first home game:

Cheese Ball Blitz

Servings: 32

2 packages (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened (Soften cream cheese in microwave at high for 15 to 20 seconds.)
1 package (8 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon chopped pimento
1 tablespoon finely chopped green bell pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or hot pepper sauce
Dash salt
Town House Toppers crackers
Walnuts for decorating (optional)

In large bowl combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, pimento, green pepper, onion, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, cayenne and salt. Mix well. Shape into a football. Refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours. Roll in chopped walnuts and make a seam with pimento strips if desired. Serve with crackers.
