My friend, Bill, sent me the following tip this morning. I happened to be making pie’s at the time. I want to try it out, but I can’t seem to get my teeth out.
He wrote, “Grannie made such beautiful pies. One day I asked her how she got such beautiful crimps in her pie crusts.”
“It’s a family secret, so promise not to tell,” she replied.
“I roll out the dough, then lay the bottom layer. Then I slowly pour in the filling and place the top layer over the filling.”
“Finally I take out my teeth and just run them around the edge of the pie crust and they make the nicest, even impressions you ever did see!”
Judging from the pie crust I see here, she must have had really big teeth! The better to crimp you with, I guess.
