I think the ground hog was wrong. Spring has too arrived!
How do I know? Because my neighbor’s flowering quince is beginning to bloom. Every year I promise myself that I’ll plant one of these beautiful harbingers of Spring, but get distracted by all the color and textures of annuals when they begin arriving in the garden center.
I think the quince is the very first spring bloomer to show its color, then it steps aside for the dogwood and redbud. This year I’m going to plant a quince in my front garden. I understand you can root them from cuttings. Anyone got a bush that needs pruning after this season’s bloom is over?
