Suttle Hall, a huge residence hall at Mississippi State, is being dismantled to make way for a parking garage.

The hall was built during my college days, so it wasn’t all that old!!

The work began several weeks ago, and yesterday the wrecking ball came in and began the laborious task of knocking down the high rise residence hall.

Suttle opened to students in

1967 and was vacated in 2007.  Long range plans are to erect a parking garage on the site. gone 006 A crowd gathered to watch the old building come down – mostly men who lived in the hall at one time.

It was a bitter-sweet sight.

Thankfully, the older more architecturally pleasing halls like Magruder are being maintained.
