The end

Just a note to let you know I won’t be doing any further columns for  the Daily News – or any of  their other papers.  We have new management and I really like the new editor, but I don’t think she likes me all that much. She shoved my column to the classifieds, right next to the garage sales. So I’m done.

I will continue to blog  right here.  Stay tuned. This reminds me of Edith Teasley.  Do you remember her?  She was a delightful columnist and  I still remember her writing about dropping a contact lens in the potato salad at a wedding.  She died last week, but gave us all so much to laugh about. I miss her.

  1. Emily,
Sorry to see you go. SDN could stand to keep you. I’ll keep up here though…

  2. It certainly will be Starkville’s loss. Glad I am on your blog. I LOVE your columns.

  3. Emily, I won’t miss your articles in the Starkville Daily News because I quit subscribing about a year ago because of all the errors they made.If I hear that the new editor improves things I might reconsider; however putting your column next to the want ads is not an improvement, so things are not looking up. I’m hoping that was a mistake and that you will give her another chance. Your readers would miss you so much!

There are other columns than yours that should be weeded out or drastically cut, some taking up more than a page, and some espousing right-wing, inaccurate views.

I remember Edith Teasley’s column with pleasure and lament her passing.

Keep up the good work with this blog. I enjoy it so much!

  4. Maybe SDN should take a look at the demographics of its newspaper’s readership. Chances are it is the over 50 population!
