The longest day of the year

Today marks the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, when the Sun reaches its most northern point in the sky at noon. Summer officially arrives, although you would have a hard time convincing me it didn’t preempt our Spring this year!

After this date, the days start getting shorter.  We awoke in Starkville to the tune of a soft rain which was a welcome sound.

While you’re trying to escape the heat, take heart. Football season is only a little over two months away.

In the meantime – I like this quote:

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.”
