The whole world’s Irish on a Sunday afternoon

Irish party 019

My friend, Diane, was visiting from Dallas this weekend and I was wondering how to entertain her on a hot Sunday afternoon in Starkvegas.

Everyone had rolled up the streets and escaped to the air conditioning to watch the dawgs play baseball.  Not us, we were craving something new with a modicum of excitement.

Enter Oby’s, a local eatery which serves up good food and – at least on this particular Sunday – an authentic Irish Pub Party.  My little “adventure crew” joined in and learned how to do an Irish jig and heard some great music complements of the Cedar Creek Ramblers.

The Golden Triangle Celts sponsored the party which will be repeated on the second Sunday afternoon each month through the summer.  We learned that this organization (designed for all people Scottish, Irish and Welch) can join.  There are no membership requirements, dues or regular meetings.  My kind of club!!

They even let Marie in despite her obvious Eye-talian disposition and name (Portera).  So embrace your inner Irish child and join us on July 10 for the next lesson (party).
