Thoughts about inner peace

This isn’t original, but it resonated just the same.  Rebel Dawg told this to me as he drifted off to sleep on my good pillow, stretching across the bed so that I was hanging onto the edge:

“If  you can start the day without caffeine,

If you  can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If  you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If  you can eat plain food every day and be grateful for it,

If  you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

lucky If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If  you can conquer tension without  medical help,

If you can relax without  liquor,

If  you can sleep without the aid of  drugs,

...Then  You Are  Probably the  family Dog or cat.!

We should take a lesson from our furry friends and be grateful for what we’ve got, and not for what we wish we had.  My pets have taught me how to stop holding grudges.  I yell at them for some slip up and they are jumping up and down when I say a kind word again.

I wish I could be so forgetful about perceived injustices.
