Summer is testing my last nerve. Please let it end soon.
The only good thing about summer is memories of growing up in West Point, Mississippi, when Officer’s Lake seemed like the Riviera and climbing the fire tower at Kilgore Hills was like scaling Mount Everest.
Lately, my best friends from high school – who thought green and white were just the perfect color combination – have been dreaming up a way to get together and celebrate our past. Funny, but I don’t have the same feelings about my college friends. They were wonderful, but the people I gravitate toward are the folks that “brought me to the dance.”
Speaking of who brought us to the dance, our class is planning a soiree for all graduates of West Point High School – from all years from this minute back as long ago as you can remember. It will be held in the very same place where we attended sock hops in the 60s, DooWop parties in the 50s and big band jitterbugs in the 40s. If you’re older than that, you will be crowned King and Queen.
YES! TEEN TOWN! Do you remember it? If you can, you qualify to attend the reunion of all classes that graduated from West Point High School. It will be held Friday, October 26, 2012. Don’t miss this party. The Torquays, who played for all the best times of our lives, will be playing again. You will get more information later.
