Let the training begin

training 002

I can already hear “Chariots of Fire” playing in my head.

Today, my friends Judy and Marie joined me for our first formal training session for the Music City Half Marathon.  We logged in 5-1/2 miles through the city streets.  We didn’t actually do much running, and spent most of the time looking for a bathroom, but we kept moving.

I ran out of steam on mile three, and we decided next time we’re taking along my Radio Flyer wagon so they can pull me home.  Judy and Marie are seasoned athletes and I’m just a wannabee.   But we did have fun and I think I can do this. We have 15 more weeks to get ourselves ready.

If you want you join us, all you have to do is walk/run three miles every other day and do an extra long walk on Saturday or Sunday.  Next week our assignment calls for six miles on the long walk/run..

  1. DD,
Had a great time yesterday with you and Marie. I really think this is going to be good for all of us.

The article and pictures you did on your Dad’s retirement was just beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. There was so much love and respect for a father and doctor. It reminded me of my very special father.

    See ya tomorrow,

  2. Sorry I have gotten behind in my reading — you are really tempting me with this half-marathon. I think I better start slowly on my own, but it sounds like a lot of fun — maybe I can stand on the sidelines and cheer ya’ll on.
