I’ve ranted before about Jiggly Wiggly. Today was the final straw. They probably won’t even let me come back. Good.
They printed in 48 point type in the local newspaper that Saturday (today) was a tax free day. I thought, “How cool is that”? Trying to pay us back for all the gouging they do during the rest of the year.
So I made out my list and went over and bought pet food for the next month and paper products. Everything else was too expensive. I spent $34 for NO people food except a bad looking head of lettuce and two bags of pre-grated cheese.
I was flabbergasted at the cost. So I examined my check. I was charged sales tax. I marched right over to the manager and asked why I was charged tax on “tax free” day.
“Oh, that’s only for back to school items like notebooks and pens and such,” he said.
“Oh really,” I said. “My pets are enrolled in obedience school.”
He didn’t buy it. He smirked. HE SMIRKED! “You should have read the small print.”
Exactly. I should have. Don’t trust anything that looks too good to be true or grocers with piglets on their shirts.
