Tax Day Tea Party at my house

tax day tea

Today is the deadline to pay and/or file your taxes with the Infernal Revenue Service.  Why not join others across the country and participate in Tax Day Tea party rallies.

I won’t be attending a rally because I’ll be planting my garden – but I’ll be wearing my new tea bag earrings which I fashioned this morning as I donned my overalls.  Rebel is wearing one on his collar.

Therefore, symbolically at least, we’ll be supporting the movement that is demonstrating its outrage that Congress:

  • Voted for a $500 billion tax bill without even reading it;
  • Continues to  spend trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying; and,
  • consistently gives special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected.
  • Of course, the tea events are based on the iconic event in 1773 when disgusted colonists in Boston dumped tea into the Boston Harbor to protest taxation without representation.  Since Thad Cochran is my senator and he is one of the worst offenders, I’m wondering how well I’m being represented in modern day congress.
