The search for heaven on earth

Is your fist clenched around the steering wheel of life?  Are you fighting your neighbor for your piece of the pie?  (You may get your piece but will you find your peace on earth and goodwill toward men and all that? I suspect you won’t.)

heaven-on-earth1I’ve decided that heaven isn’t a palatial home, a successful career (or in my case a successful retirement whatever that would look like).  It’s not even a truckload of money in the bank.  As my muse (Geoff Talbot of Seven Sentences for Creative People) says “You won’t find your heaven on earth by fighting for it or insisting upon it.”

I can’t even find it through my very meager attempts at exercising self discipline or through some self-empowering  “secret” peddled on the internet for two easy payments of $49.99. I know, because I’ve bought into a bunch of them and wasted my money.

If you find your hands still tight on the wheel, if your body is tense, and your soul is anxious, THEN you are most likely heading in the wrong direction.  We all know where that is – it’s called “hell on earth” and it’s mostly self imposed.

Peace is found in the surrendering everything to the main driver (for me that is God), and simply enjoy being a passenger for a while.  Then you can look, listen, believe and relax.

Now that’s my idea of heaven on earth.  In the meantime enjoy your March into spring.  Here are a few things to celebrate:”:

March 12 – Plant a flower day (my bed above is waiting)

boston-terrier-popcorn March 15 – Ides of March  (there’s really not a thing to fear  on  this day unless you haven’t yet begun work on your taxes – good day to start)

March 17 – St. Patrick’s Days (wear green)

March 19 – National Popcorn Day – Rebel loves his  popcorn  with a little Tabasco squirted on top.

March 22 – National Goof Off Day (Since I celebrate this everyday, I may actually do something significant on the 22nd)

  1. I agree with your statement that “hell on earth being mostly self imposed”. Oh so true. Such an effective remedy is indeed focusing on God and all the marvelous gifts He provides which are way too numerous to count. Thank you for this wonderful post which must have come from deep within your heart.

Rebel eats popcorn with tabasco? Really??
